Sony's latest smartphone creation is here again. Sony Xperia P was launched a few days ago and we are here to give you our blue check on this latest device.

Processor:- Dual Core NovaThor U8500 clocked at 1 Ghz.
RAM: - 1 GB
Weight:- 120 g
Camera Back:- 8.0 MP
Camera Front:- VG
Battery:- 1305 mAh
Memory:- 16 GB
Amount:- 26000 INR
The device is also made up of uni body aluminum. It isn’t exactly uni body, but Sony claims it to be uni body because the back is made of a single piece of metal, never the less it feels very nice in the hands and like a premium device. The phone is 10.6mm thick, which may not be the thinnest around but the convex design makes the device easy to hold.
The 4.0 inch display of Sony Xperia P is different from all other devices in the market. Not only it’s powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine for mobile but it also features WhiteMagic technology. WhiteMagic technology makes sure that the device is viewable in the sunlight and yes it is effective. Of all the devices out there in the market, Xperia P manages to do the best job in direct sunlight. The display under Sunlight is even better than high end smartphones.
Xperia P has the same UXP NXT UI, which Sony introduced with Xperia S. We love the simplicity and ease of use of UI and Sony has done a good job in keeping things simple and beautiful, but the phone is still shipping with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sony has definitely missed the trick with ICS although they say the ICS update is around the corner, but its disappointing to see such a device running previous version of Android. The device packs NFC but there are no smart tags like the one found on Xperia S, so you’ll probably have to spend some buck to get them.
Messaging and contacts are well managed on the device. The 4.0 display and responsiveness of the screen makes typing on the device pretty easy. The browser on the phone is decent with handy pinch to zoom gestures.
The phone has the same transparent antenna like most of the devices from Xperia NXT series and three capacitive dots for home back and menu keys. Although we found them difficult to press, you’ll get used to them in a while.
Xperia P has an 8.0 MP camera with a VGA front facing camera for video calling. The camera performance is great as expected from a Sony smartphone. There’s even a dedicated camera key, which almost every manufacturer seems to have forgotten except Sony. The device can shoot in 1080p and the video quality is better than most of the smartphones out there.
So, should you buy the Xperia P? Well, apparently there’s a lot of good with the Xperia P. The display is amazing, camera quality is good and the built quality of the device is better than most of the smartphones in the wild. But there’s a lot to hate with the Xperia P too. The phone still ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, there’s no micro SD card slot with only 16 GB memory and the phone falls in the price range of 25000 INR, which is the same as Samsung Galaxy S II.
We wouldn’t recommend you to buy this device. Instead you should go for Galaxy S II, which is available around 26000 INR in the market. Although Galaxy S II was launched previous year, it still manages to beat Xperia P comfortably. With Micro SD card slot on board, the device already being updated to Android 4.0 ICS in India, Galaxy S II is a much better buy
Well we won't give it a Ace but still it's great look and camera have surely got our Jack of Spade ;).
The Blue Final Check : 3 of 5 (Jack of Spade).
